This is all wrong. She is setting wayyy too far out. Her hands are all wrong. She is swimming instead of having firm, yet soft hands.

    get a 2 kg medicin …
get a 2 kg medicin ball and use it to set, u can use a basketball to start with, but won’t get you long. When you use the 2 kg medicin ball, don’t set it like you normally would, make a little conduction and make sure you really follow the setting through after that you won’t have distance problems anymore.. believe me!

  7. ErikaChatard00 Says:

    Use your legs and …
Use your legs and extend your arms. Push off your left leg with your right leg slightly in front. Most people just want to use their arms to set, but they aren’t physically strong enough to do so.

i halfway agree with you, but a good setter, such as mine, can turn even the crappiest passes into beautiful sets

don’t forget that a lot of strength comes from the legs. some of the smallest girls can push it out, sometimes too far, just because they bend their knees. try to squat set some if your looking for a warm up

does she get the ball to a hittable place..thats the bottom line..how it looks doesnt matter if she can get it to a hittable area.. and the setter is only as good as the pass..what a setter does with subpar passing is the key..if she or he can set the ball to a hittable place..i dont care how it looks,as long as its legal and results in kills

    These comments are …
These comments are helpful. But I wouldn’t call it bad setting. You have to consider the level of the player. I have been coaching 9th graders at a not-super competitive high school. Most of my players, including the setters, are new to the game at the start of the season. So I would be thrilled if they set like this!

  19. bakinka6 Says:

    bad setting. she …
bad setting. she doesn’t go under the ball

  20. CookieeMonsterrr Says:

    She isn’t jump …
She isn’t jump setting, so she should be leading with her foot forward when she sets so that her hips are parrallel to the net and are in a neutral position so as to hide the set.
She also breaks down with her hands after every set. They need to keep the position that they contact the ball with as to reduce the ball spin and be consistent in her placement.
She also usuing little to none of the strength in her legs and is losing her neutral position by pushing to get the ball outside

  21. KillaKZAN Says:

    horrible setting… …
    horrible setting…

this kind of tehnique is only appropriate if you are setting a ball that you are saving, meaning a set to the opposite, when you set at the net, from a solid pass (like in the first half of the drill), you should always jump set, and don’t use your shoulders and elbows that much

good setters will use their wrists for 80% of the power of the set, harder to read harder to block

    you have to lead …
you have to lead with one of your legs, depending on witch one of your hands are dominant.

  24. BoShizel Says:

    horrible setting

    horrible setting
her wrists fling out at the end like a retard
    lol
don’t push out so much either

  25. WMJusyo Says:

    I agree with …
I agree with OMGitsJEN531, Im just a reserve setter better at setting centre and backsets. The outside spikers on my team like to stand within the court and do the 3 step jump, if the ball gets a little more outside the spikers would screw up.
